Community News: CITY OF HENDERSON PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH
September is National Preparedness Month and the city of Henderson’s Office of Emergency Management is helping businesses and residents to get ready and stay ready for all types of emergencies on Thursday, September 25 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Galleria at Sunset, 1300 W. Sunset Rd.
As part of the Get READY! Stay READY! campaign, the city’s emergency management team will be on-site to offer advice to the public about emergency preparedness with their family, community and workplace, including the four building blocks of preparing for a disaster – be informed, make a plan, build a kit, and get involved. The team will provide free emergency preparedness pamphlets, offer helpful tips in case of an emergency, and answer any questions.
National Preparedness Month is one component of Henderson’s overall emergency preparedness campaign, Get READY! Stay READY! The program was launched in March as part of the inaugural Emergency Preparedness Week. In nine months, members of the Office of Emergency Management have made presentations to local civic groups, businesses and schools, and have developed a series of videos online that highlight important tips and steps one needs to take when planning for an emergency.
